Answering your Insurance Questions

As a courtesy, GCMH will submit your bill to your insurance company. It is ultimately your responsibility to pay for the services you receive at Grundy County Memorial Hospital. It is also your responsibility to be aware of any exclusions, benefits, co-payments, and deductibles outlined in your insurance plan. We recommend that you call your insurance company as soon as possible. Some insurance plans require that you pay a co-payment or deductible. We will ask that you pay that amount when you are scheduled to receive health care services.

Insurance Cards

It is our policy to copy insurance cards every time you register, making it possible for us to keep our records up-to-date and ensure accurate billing. If other providers are involved in your care – surgeons, radiologists, and pathologists, for example – we will share your billing information with them so they can file with your insurance company as well. Note that services by those providers are billed separately and will not be included in our hospital charges.

If you do not have your current insurance cards, or if your visit is due to an accident (or liability) which involves someone else (a third party), please provide the correct information so we can submit your bill correctly.

No Insurance

If you do not have insurance, you will be asked to make a minimum payment before you leave the hospital. In addition, you may also visit with our Business Office Lead to discuss payment options.

Medicare Patients

Grundy County Memorial Hospital is an approved Medicare provider and all services are billed to Medicare following federal guidelines and procedures. Since most secondary policies pay co-payments or deductibles, we will not ask you to pay that amount. However, you are required by federal law to truthfully and accurately answer a series of Medicare Secondary Payor Questions that will assist us in determining your primary insurance carrier each time you visit GCMH.
