Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy

At Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH), we offer physical, occupational and speech therapy to people of all ages. We can help when an illness, injury or health condition affects your daily routine, whether that's your ability to walk pain-free, play with your grandkids, or perform your job safely and with greater ease.

We're committed to helping our patients improve their quality of life, often by restoring mobility and function so you can live your life to its fullest potential.

Expert care with a personal touch

With more than 100 years of combined experience, our therapists tailor your treatments to your unique needs. Starting with your first visit, you will work one-on-one with a licensed professional who will take the time to get to know you and what your personal goals are. Then we'll develop and implement a plan to help you reach those goals. Our patient-centered approach—and high-quality care—show in every appointment. That's why therapy services at GCMH have been ranked among the best in the country for patient satisfaction.

Our therapy department is staffed by highly experienced physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists. They are compassionate providers with advanced education and expertise, plus training in specialties like orthopedics, sports injury and dry needling and geriatrics.

GCMH physical, occupational and speech therapists help with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Dizziness (vestibular) issues
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Hand disorders
  • Shoulder problems

  • Many other conditions

Our clinic location at the hospital allows patients to have easy access to diagnostic tests such as CT and MRI scans if necessary. We offer state-of-the-art equipment, including a gym and private treatment rooms for your comfort and privacy.

Physical therapy

Whether you need help returning to sports after an injury or need to recover your strength and confidence after joint surgery, our physical therapy services are here for you.

Our therapy team provides multiple treatment techniques to help you best achieve your goals and fit your lifestyle.

Occupational therapy

Occupational therapists (OTs) can help you overcome challenges affecting your daily activities. For example, an OT might help you learn how to perform home or work tasks, such as dressing, bathing, or gripping a pen or a hair comb. They can help you live safely and independently.

Speech therapy

Our speech therapists help individuals with communication and swallowing disorders. They also help improve cognitive skills, such as memory, concentration and problem solving.

Athletic training

Our athletic trainer provides expertise to student athletes in Grundy Center Community Schools and at local sporting events. The services include care for injured athletes as well as concussion baseline testing.

Driving assessments

Are you concerned about a loved one's safe driving skills or your own? Do you need medical clearance to drive? If so, you may benefit from a driving assessment. Driving assessments are for those with functional challenges that may affect driving skills, such as a health condition or age-related challenges.

Schedule a therapy appointment

In most cases you will need a referral from your physician to schedule a therapy appointment. Ask your doctor to refer you to the experts at GCMH!

If you have questions or need to schedule an appointment, please call (319) 824-5097. Our office staff will work with you to schedule a time that fits best for you.
