If surgery is the best choice for treating your orthopedic problem, you can trust the experts at Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH). From joint replacements to ACL repair, we have the expertise and state-of-the-art facilities and technology you need, right here in Grundy Center. New to our orthopedic service line is Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted surgeries for total knee and hip replacements. And our experienced surgery team is dedicated to offering personalized care to each patient.
Here are some of the reasons to choose us:
Our experienced orthopedic surgeon
Our board-certified orthopedic surgeon offers a wide array of procedures, including advanced surgeries like robotic-arm assisted total joint replacement and minimally invasive surgery. Experienced nurses and other staff are here to support our surgeons in the clinic and the operating room.
Our commitment to surgery safety
At GCMH, every member of our surgery team is committed to your safety. That's why we were among the first small hospitals in Iowa to use an ultraviolet infection-control system that kills 99.9% of surface germs on contact.
Individualized attention
At GCMH, you will receive big-city medical care in a friendly, small-town atmosphere. A lot of hospitals say they care about their patients, but we truly do. Our surgery team comes this area, and they are proud to bring their expertise home to their community. They take the time to get to know you, your needs and your goals. We provide personalized care, and you'll notice the difference the minute you walk through our doors. For example, we can offer you one-on-one classes to prepare you for joint replacement surgery.
We perform many types of orthopedic surgeries at GCMH, including:
Total hip and knee replacements. We have been replacing joints at GCMH since 2006. In 2023, we added Mako Robotic-Arm Assisted total knee and hip replacement surgeries to our offerings, while still doing traditional manual total joint replacements. We deliver excellent and safe results to our patients. Joint replacement is a highly successful surgery that can reduce pain and improve quality of life.
Arthroscopic (minimally invasive) procedures. We perform arthroscopic procedures by using miniature instruments and small incisions. Arthroscopic surgery can offer a quicker recovery than traditional open surgery.
Sports injury repairs. We help athletes of all ages safely get back in the game with procedures such as ACL and meniscus repairs.
Hand surgeries. We perform procedures including carpal tunnel release and trigger finger repair.
Bone fracture repairs. When needed, our orthopedic surgeons help ensure that broken bones heal correctly.
Rotator cuff repair. This surgery fixes a torn shoulder tendon to reduce pain and restore range of motion.
Our total team effort
Our orthopedic surgery team works closely with other departments at GCMH—including our therapy services rehabilitation team—to give you the complete care that you deserve.
Our comprehensive orthopedic care
What if you need a nonsurgical treatment for your injury or illness? We're experts in that too. In fact, nonsurgical treatments are typically the first choice. We provide that care at GCMH in our Orthopedic Clinic.
